On April 4,2008 I had my chin and upper lip hair removal treatment at American Laser Centers in Berkeley, CA. This was 5th session with the same nurse by the name of Annablelle. When I was getting my laser treatment, Annabelle asked me if it hurts and I said "It hurts a little" but she continued with the tratment which seemed to be lasting longer then normal. This was due to the fact that she made several (3 or more) passes with the laser in lieu of the normal 2 passes of the treatment area(s). Annabelle asked me if I smell some burning and I said yes. Her response was "That was the hair burining" and continued with the treatment. I have had 5 previous treatments with American Laser center and never experienced any discomfort or the smell of buringing hair. When the treatment was finished, I sensed that there was someinthing drastaclly wrong this time. When I returned home, I noticed that there were several deep burn marks on my chin and upper lip and my face was swollen. I then washed my face with water and pieces of skin came off, leaving my skin exposed to infection and quickly caused puss like pimples on my chin. The following morning I went back to American Laser Center & spoke with Natalie (Manager)and showed her the results from the treatment. Natalie told me that the nurse (Hanna) would look at me and provide me with medication (Aquapor, total block clear and post laser loation) Natalie, refused to document my complaint but instead recommend I return in 3 days for a follow up.
