My 4 year old daughter and I took a 7 day trip to Orlando to go to Disney World. (My daughter's first time ever flying). Before we left, we bought a "primo" stroller just for this trip- complete with a travel bag. Well, guess what stroller never made it to Orlando? You guessed it!
We gate checked the stroller and brought it with us right up to the door of the plane. It made it from Milwaukee to Atlanta. We used it at the Atlanta airport to catch our connecting flight to Orlando. We again checked it at the gate (but instead of the ticket agent issuing us a new claim ticket, she just crossed off the old information and added the new arrival destination)... We took the stroller right up to the door of the plane and that's the last time we saw it. It completely vanished. AirTran has NO CLUE where it is. The exact same thing happened to my best friend who was also traveling with me, but her stroller showed up in Orlando on a later flight. She had a less than new stroller, so it was not a big deal! We tagged our strollers at the exact same time with the exact same agent and handed them over to the exact same person... hers made it, mine did not. But it doesn't end there!...

On the way home, we were unable to print my 4 year old's boarding pass. Turns out her seating assignment (which I had to pay extra for) was DELETED!! So here is a 4 year old with no assigned seat on the plane and a stranger with HER seat assignment (I have the original paperwork with her seat assignment printed out). I tried at the gate to get it fixed but the ticket agent said there was nothing she could do. She just told me to get on the plane with my 4 year old and see if someone would switch seats for us. We found a really nice woman who was traveling alone and she agreed to switch seats and take my assigned seat- but when she got to my assigned seat it was given to someone else!! I had to pull out my boarding pass to prove that I belonged in that seat. By that time she said she would take ANY seat and she did- but I felt bad that she gave up her seat so my 4 year old and I could be together and she got the shaft!
So my little girl had a GREAT first time flying experience. They lost her new stroller and gave away her seat. Nice. The only thing that ruined our vacation was dealing with AirTran. Thanks for NOTHING AirTran! I will NEVER fly with you again.
