I paid American Moving Services (AMS) a deposit of $962.67 on September 7, 2007 for an estimated total move
cost of $2406.68 and a pick-up date of 9/20/2007 or 9/21/2007.

On September 19th, I called the AMS dispatcher to confirm the date. He told me they would arrive Friday, September 21st between 4 and 6. I arrived home at 3:00 and
no one ever arrived.

No one from AMS called to say they wouldn't be picking up. I called the dispatcher several times, and there was no answer, only an answering machine. I left a message with the dispatcher asking for an explanation.

By Monday morning, September 24th, I still had not received a phone call. I finally reached someone about 11:00 that morning. When I talked to the dispatcher, he said the
truck had broken down and he claimed that he called me and told me that on Friday. When pressed he admitted that we never talked and then he said he might have left a message. This was not true.

At this point I tried to cancel their services and get back my deposit. They refused because the contract states that the deposit is not refundable unless I cancel 7 business days prior to the move date. Of course, I no longer had a move date.

The next contact was over a week later. On October 2 I received a call from one of the AMS contractors stating that he would be at my house on October 4. This was two weeks after my originally scheduled move date. I had already decided not to risk any more money with AMS, so I told them not to show up.
