Received a handwritten estimate from 2 Men and a Truck of Alpharetta, GA. The quote had a high end and low end with 'cushion' built into it for extenuating circumstances. The quote was to move our entire home. But since it is for sale we left the first floor for sales staging. 2 Men moved about 2/3 of our home for sale. They over-shot their high end estimate by 30%. No bad weather or mechanical breakdowns. Just lazy movers. They presented my wife with an invoice that included every room in our home for sale as moved. The invoice totaled $10,000 for a partial home move. They told my wife they would not leave our home until they collected payment in full. The manager Geoff told her he would lose his job if he did not collect. He said we could negotiate after the invoice was processed. While Geoff was on the phone with my wife he was also telling his movers to count boxes and figure out an estimate for the hours to move our partial home. Even Geoff told us that he had never missed an estimate like this before. They stopped talking to us and are pressing Amex to release the funds over the $5000 I authorized them to pay. Beware of handwritten estimates loaded with verbal promises.
